Art Nouveau Bedroom
I was so excited to finally get to this room. I had built most of the furniture way in advance so finally getting to put in place was a big deal for me🙂 I literally built the bed, wardrobes and vanity back in December last year! They have been sitting around waiting for a home for 8 months LOL
I love the design for the floor – almost a pity to cover it up with a bunch of furniture LOL.
I wanted a big beautiful mural for the back wall so found a great image in my collection and adjusted the colors to fit my design. I also adjusted the colors on a real wallpaper design and printed that out to match for the other walls.
I am really pleased with the window treatment. I found some inspiration for the asymmetrical styling online, so it is true to the period, then I designed and printed my own fabrics (except for the velvet – that I bought). I finally got to use a bunch of beautiful trim that I bought from a fellow miniaturist who retired from making minis and it all came together – just as I has pictured in my head.
I placed a pretty rug, all my stockpiled furniture and realized I had room for a couple extra things. I made a coffee table but my first design was too small and yet too tall for the seating area. However it went perfectly under the window instead.
I have been lusting after these calla lily wall shelves forever but since I cant have the actual shelves in real life, I made my own mini version – I actually made two – one for above the vanity and one for the spiral staircase area.
I designed a new sunflower table that was a better fit for the seating area and had lots of fun staging it with food and drinks. Those operas tend to run long, so a pre opera snack will tide her over till the late supper. A girl needs to eat, right?
I still need to do all the detailed staging, like bedside lamps, flowers, jewelry and cosmetics on the vanity. But I am determined to get this house finished so I am pressing on. Once it is in its final place in my real house I will work on all those fun details
