Folly Exterior
It was the exterior photo that started it all – this looked like the perfect small french folly of my dreams. I decided to make life difficult for myself and try recreating the the curved front…. This meant I needed to bend the draft board, so I experimented with a living hinge and it worked!
I originally planned one big door opening on the front but instead decided on the two sides opening and the front panel opening with static walls on each side
I planned a few french doors opening up to the gardens and discovered that I hate installing mini hinges about as much as the real thing LOL The first set of french doors got hinges but they are not perfect and the are bulky so for the front door with its shutters I decided to just do the duct tape version. Perfect if you are not a stickler for historical accuracy like me 🙂 I will write a tutorial if anyone wants to know how to do it.
I decided to use some wavy corrugated paper to represent the shutter slats and painted them a lovely green chalk paint. I think they turned out great – I am excited to install them but since that is going to be an opening door it might be awhile before I get to that
