Music Room
I didn’t take many pictures of the beginning of this room I guess. But as you can see it started with a couple walls and the floor. This floor was made from lollipop sticks – I did a simple herringbone pattern the only part that is paper is the center “rug” and the stage. Ultimately I didn’t like the center rug and covered with an actual rug LOL
I used some fancy gold lace for the stage trim and made lined drapes to give it more of a focal point
I was really happy with the drapes for this room, that satin floral fabric was lovely to work with.
I decided to make my own instruments and started with the grand Piano – all card stock with sculpted clay legs. I used jewelry finding for all the gold detailing which I glued on after painting
Then I tackled the harp, which I built from card stock and then covered it with thin wood veneer. The base was made from card and styrene in layers, the column was a stack of wooden beads painted gold. Jewelry findings again for the filigree detail
I choose to use very fine wire for the strings which I pulled through a strip of styrene. I then glued the styrene to the sound board area and pre drilled hols in the arch for the “pegs” which were toothpicks. Once the strings were all tight enough I clipped the toothpicks down to size
I made a little music stand from card and beads but failed miserably at making the violin – it looked like crapola so I caved and bought one online
I made a chandelier from beads and some pearl trim I had in my stash, some floral arrangements and a little settee. I was able to use a couple excess chairs and tables I made for the dressing room and it was finished
