Laduree
My little street scene was an improvisation due to adding a ledge to second floor. I thought it would be fun to add my fav patisserie in Paris Laduree. They are supposed to have invented the macaron and their stores are a feast for the eyes. I may have to do a larger store one of these days.
I started off by making a million tiny boxes, I love how Laduree has so many lovely pastel shades in their packaging.
It takes forever and is very fiddly but it is a good mindless thing to do while on conference calls that you are not playing an active role in LOL. A fat straw is handy to form the cylinders when glueing
I built a back wall to house all the merchandise, making the shelves from acetate and used a mirrored film for the back since I didn’t want to use up what little space I had on a real mirror – even for an 8th of an inch – I had very little real estate to play with and swore I wasn’t going to make this whole thing any bigger or it wouldn’t get out the door of the craft room
I built a case for the delicious pastries which I bought online – my patience doesn’t extend that far LOL and arranged them on trays. the glass is sheets of acetate and the lamps were glass beads on straws
I added some signage and a chandelier and then moved onto the exterior which was fun and challenging. I wanted to base it on the Laduree that I visit when I go to Paris for work on the Champs Elysees which is beyond glorious. I managed to get a paint which was the right shade of green then I added the logo using puffy gold paint. That was a real PITA but eventually I think it worked out okay
You can see the placement of the patisserie and the bistro. The Laduree facade does open up so you can see the interior better
I know I say it all the time but it is one of my favorite rooms LOL
