Dressmakers Studio

Clearly a Parisienne Fashionista like Lady Anastasia can not be caught in a store bought gown

I decided that she would have her own live in seamstress to create her one of a kind wardrobe. This room was so much fun to create. I know I say that about every room, but its true!

I started off with pretty palette of pinks and greens. I wanted it to be not as grand as the other rooms but if the lady of the house went there for fittings etc it had to be stylish enough.

I made a lovely bergere chair for her to sit in. I need to take more pictures to show you.

I made simple wainscoting with lollipop sticks painted white and a little chair rail from mat board and PVC foam. Then set about making all her supplies. Rolls of fabric and spools of ribbon, thread and trims. I made button cards with mat board and beads.

I loved the overflowing cabinet filled with possibilities for future impeccable style.

I made a little step stool for reaching the high shelves. Then I built a spool holder out of PVC foam, painted it and added a selection of different covered spools of thread.

The work table was again built from mat board and PVC foam and some nice wooden legs I found on sale. I used wooden beads for the spacers for the shelf. Once the paint was dried the really fun part was adding fabric, trim and scissors to make it look like she was in the middle of a project.

I bought a tiny singer sewing machine like the one my grandmother had and I learned to sew on about a million years ago. Then added some fabric, scissors and a spool of thread . I like my minis to look like someone just stepped away for a moment.

Speaking of fabric this was a piece of glorious vintage organza with blue embroidery that I sourced online. I also used it on the window treatment for the closet

I built a little ironing board and glued some fabric and an iron on it again – this is a working dressmakers studio fabric and half made dresses everywhere. Which bring me to the mannequin. This is where I created the half finished dress for the spring ball. Lady Anastasia will look stunning in this when it is finished

The little details were the most fun. I made a fabric covered mood board with images of dresses and scraps of material etc, a little pattern book with pages filled with fashion plates for the lady of the house to flip through.

I could spend all day in here
